Report - Finals week (embryo version, look back later for V2.0)

Apologies are offerred if I have missed anyone or shown Christian names incorrectly or miss-spelt).

Generally good weather although a couple of days of strong winds made bowling 'awkward' and rain on the last morning was more than irritating. However, the schedule was not affected. The closing ceremony had to go into the (accommodating) Suncastle. It was well attended and the following were awarded:-
   VICTOR LUDORUM (Most Men winners/finalists)
      Durham
   VICTRIX LUDORIX (Most Women winners/finalists)
      Derbyshire
Under 25 Player of the Year
      Alex Scott (Northumberland)

 Notable achievements

Naomi Scott & family (Northumberland) . . .Naomi won the mixed trips with husband Steven & son Alex, then skipped the 3 wood trips to a win. She was also runner-up in the Champ of Champs.
Before being voted Young Player of the Tournament, Alex was runner-up in the U25 singles and played with sister Zoe in the U25 pairs, losing narrowly in round 2 to the eventual winners from Suffolk).

Alan Lawton (Durham). Won the pairs with his brother John in the light rain on Saturday and then the Champ of Champs in the heavy rain that followed.

Janet Chapman (Huntingdonshire). Equalling the all-time record of 6 qualifications Janet was another who played twice in the closing day rain. She was runner-up in the senior singles and senior ladies pairs.

Ollie Jeapes (Northants). Winner of the Under singles and had a narrow defeat in the Under-25 pairs.

In line with the growing trend for multiple qualification for the week, the following also appeared in 2 finals:
Trevor Bannister (Lincs); Paul Freeman (N'umbld); Tracy & Jordon Philpott (mother & son, Lincs).
